Summary

The area of consideration for this vacancy announcement is for U.S. Citizens and Non-Citizens within the Local Commuting Area of Fort Drum, NY. This includes the counties of: St. Lawrence, Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) Preference eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

This position is located at various locations within Child, Youth, & School Services Division.

Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division (LI), is located in northern New York's picturesque North Country, one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, offering many outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles south of the Canadian border, 85 miles north of Syracuse, and 350 miles north of New York City. It is located with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties

Help

  • Serves as a DANCE INSTRUCTOR in the CYS Instructional Program; providing individual and/or group lessons to parents/children.
  • Acts to stimulate and encourage participant interest and to establish an environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth, and adults.
  • Acts to stimulate and encourage participant interest and to establish an environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth, and adults.
  • Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements.
  • Plans and conducts special events for parents designed to promote the instructional program while encouraging parents to become involved.

  5. Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility as determined by medical authority.
  6. Must be able to work works evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess all of the following:

  • possess a high school graduation or equivalent (high school diploma must be provided prior to employment), AND
  • communicate in English (both written and verbal), AND
  • be competent in the instructional area of Dance, AND
  • be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment? (PROJECTED ENTRANCE OF DUTY DATE: 10/5/2017)

Additional information

  • Salary depends on actual hours worked. Hourly rate for leave and pay will be $15.74 to $16.70 per hour.
  • Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
  • Work schedule may be irregular. The incumbent may be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays and/or special events.
