Duties

Help

You will serve as a Senior Project Officer in the Health Communication Science Division for the purpose of protecting the health of service members, and their families. Duties will include arranging the Public Health Center (PHC) Health Communication Science campaigns, and gathering medical intelligence on emerging health threats. You will communicate with Department of Defense (DoD) elements to identify issues of a health and preventive medicine nature to coordinate the development and distribution of health communication products. As a technical advisor and consultant in assigned areas of responsibility and expertise you will perform government work on contract. Also, you will support research in the development of innovative technical communication strategies to protect soldiers, their families, and other populations of interest. This position requires knowledge in public health communication principles, training development and presentation, social marketing, general health principles, and the associated biological and social sciences.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education AND experience requirements described below. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Degree: major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.

AND

Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-11) or equivalent in the federal service that includes: (1) developing health communication programs and educational products; (2) conducting training on public health matters; and (3) communicating with a variety of personnel at all levels in order to provide information and guidance.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

2. Skill to be a Technical Advisor

3. Ability to Provide Training

4. Ability to Communicate
