Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division (LI), is located in northern New York's picturesque North Country, one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, offering many outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles south of the Canadian border, 85 miles north of Syracuse, and 350 miles north of New York City. It is located with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Preparing and delivering sanitizing bleach solution for use in classrooms, sanitizing toys that have been handled by children, replenishing classroom supplies such as hand soap and paper towels when required, delivering program supplies and materials to classrooms such as construction paper, paint, etc., emptying diaper pails and/or trash, returning food carts to the kitchen after meals and snacks, and cleaning up after classroom accidents (child illness and toileting, water on floor, etc) which may pose a threat to child safety.
May be required to clean floors and tables after meals and snacks using using standard equipment such as brooms and vacuum cleaners.
Provides routine light cleaning/dusting of classrooms/activity areas and materials as required.
Picks up soiled linens from classroom and carts them to the laundry room; washes and dries linens and towels using standard, household grade laundry machine and dryer; returns clean linens to classrooms.
Makes up cribs. May be required to launder staff uniforms. Cleans laundry room. May be required to maintain inventory of staff uniforms.

Conditions of Employment:

Must possess the following:
physical ability to lift, move, and set-up moderately heavy equipment, AND
physical ability to lift and move objects weighing 40 pounds or more on an occasional basis, AND
physical ability to perform work while standing on a scaffold or ladder, AND
willingness to work evening/weekend hours.
Immunizations are required including annual flu vaccination.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will possess all of the following:
ability to perform cleaning duties without more than normal supervision?, AND
ability to dilute and use various cleaning and sanitizing solutions to disinfect items and/or remove different types of stains on varying surfaces, AND
ability to keep things neat, clean and organized, AND
ability to follow instructions, AND
ability to speak and understand English, AND
ability to use and maintain required tools and equipment (e.g. vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops).

This vacancy announcement may be used to fill Intermittent (Flexible) thru Permanent Full-Time (Regular Full-Time) positions.
