Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division (LI), is located in northern New York's picturesque North Country, one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, offering many outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles south of the Canadian border, 85 miles north of Syracuse, and 350 miles north of New York City. It is located with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.
Fort Drum's Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) Division is a comprehensive network of quality support and leisure services that enhances the lives of Soldiers, Civilians, Families, military retirees and other eligible participants. Conditions of Employment:

Must possess the physical ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Must possess the physical ability to occasionally lift objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance of others.
Must possess the physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach, and bend for prolonged periods of time.
Must be willing to complete food sanitation and safety training within the first thirty (30) days of employment and on an annual basis thereafter.
Qualifications
Must possess work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a restaurant (ex: prepare basic food dishes, store foods to prevent spoiling etc.).
Must possess the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, particularly standard recipes, and detailed cooking instructions.
Must possess experience operating, disassembling, and cleaning basic food service equipment such as griddles, broilers, and food grinders.
Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic (e.g., add, subtract, multiply etc...) to measure ingredients in a recipe.

This vacancy announcement may be used to fill Intermittent (Flexible) thru Permanent Full-Time (Regular Full-Time) positions.

Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement for up to 90 days after the closing date.
Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized/negotiable, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Governments best interest.
