Summary

The selectee for this position will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (PASSENGER) in the Personnel Support Detachment, Navy Passenger Transportation Office (NAVPTO) of PERS SUPPORT DET NAVSTA SAN DIEGO. The mission is to provide military pay and personnel services to all Navy personnel and transportation and travel claim settlement services to all military, civilian, and DOD sponsored personnel assigned in a specified geographic area.

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • Advise travelers on entitlements and responsibilities.
  • Review customer travel orders to ensure completeness of documents (e.g., departure and destination information, rental car authorities, name of traveler, accounting data).
  • Resolve customer concerns (e.g., late shipment, shortages, overages, quality of services provided, availability of equipment) to meet client needs.

-Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
-Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
-Work is primarily sedentary with nominal standing, walking between stations and similar movement around the immediate area. Standing while filing, lifting and carrying of files is required.
-The employee works primarily in an office setting involving everyday risks or discomforts. Normal safety precautions are adequate.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviews orders involving foreign and domestic travel to determine cost effective routings and airfares; 2) Tracks, reconciles and reports transportation transactions; 3) Examines transportation applications/documents per entitlement and current regulations; 4) Utilizes an automated transportation system to track flight requests and monitor travel arrangements; 5) Verifies passport and visa eligibility and compliance within Department of State regulations.
