About the Position:
This position is a Human Resources Specialist (Classification/Recruitment and Placement) for the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC), at Fort Sam Houston, TX. The CPAC recruits, develops& sustains a professional civilian workforce through effective, efficient and responsive Human Resource products and advisory services. Some customers include HQ US Army Medical Command, US Army North, US Army South, USSOUTHERN Command, US Army Dental Command, HQ Installation Management Command and HQ Mission Installation Contracting Command.

Help

You will serve as a senior Human Resources Specialist performing operational assignments within the Civilian Human Resources Agency (CHRA). You will exercise an expert level of knowledge and skill in applying the full range of HR methods, principles, practices and evaluative methodologies sufficient to advise on and/or resolve the full range of operational problems that range from recurring through complex and unprecedented. You will utilize a wide range of HR practices, laws, regulation, policies and precedents sufficient to provide expert HR management advisory and technical services on complex and wide impacting customer functions and work practices.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: providing expert advisory services to customers, employees, and the operational branches at command level; applying a wide range of federal human resource concepts, laws, policies, practices, analytical, and diagnostic methods and techniques sufficient to solve a wide range of complex staffing and classification issues; developing position descriptions, position management, organizational structure, and career development; utilizing a wide range of human resources automated programs, position classification automated systems and personnel data systems such as FASCLASS and DCPDS.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Written Communication


Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
