Help

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • Assist the Chief Test Engineer-Weapons (CTE-W) in the establishment of an overall test program/ schedule for the Ship's Combat Systems (CS) consistent with the key event schedule, systems status and ship's condition.
  • Assist the CTE-W with the CS Project Trouble Desk in coordinating the test program on the submarines to ensure that the submarine availability completes with a completely effective combat systems verified by a thorough test program
  • Coordinate within the Division to which he/she is assigned but also with the production shops supporting CS testing, the Chief Test Engineers for Nuclear (CTE-N) and Hull, Propulsion and Auxiliary (CTE-HP&A), the project team and all activities external to the Shipyard involved in the CS testing and certification.
  • Assist the CTE-W in the establishment of an overall test program/schedule for the Ship's Combat Systems consistent with the key event schedule, systems status and ship's condition.
  • Act as the Alternate chairman of the Joint Test Group-Weapons (JTG-W) in the absence of the CTE-W and ensures all required manuals and documentations are submitted to the JTG-W for review.

Requirements:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: ?Experience with a background in Combat Systems test program on new construction, overhaul, and conversion on one or more new submarines.Experience with mechanical, electrical and electronic weapons systems and equipment.
Experience understanding engineering principles and theories.Experience understanding submarine weapons systems, operating principles, component functions, and testing requirements.
