Create social media
communication strategies/plans using social media marketing tools such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other digital tools and techniques to
increase visibility, achieve health
communication and outreach goals and objectives, and enhance stakeholder participation.
Conduct
health program analysis and use audience segmentation analysis and formative
research to select appropriate communication channels and messages.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including
the Office of Media Affairs staff to recommend social media platforms and
formats and other digital content to advance effective outreach efforts to
minority communities.
Report on the effectiveness of outreach campaigns in an effort to
maximize results and provide feedback gained from monitoring social media
platforms.
Manage social media
platforms such as Twitter, Pinterest, etc. to promote outreach campaigns and publication
distribution via the Federal Pueblo Distribution Clearing House and/or Federal
Citizen Information Center.
Ensure all agency
digital communication products and activities adhere to all applicable Federal
policies and procedures, including compliance with Section 508.
Monitor trends in social media tools and applications to increase the use
of social media and experiment with new and alternative ways to leverage social
media activities to ensure that FDA is represented on new channels.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for the Public Affairs Specialist, GS-1035-12, you must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience
developing social media communication strategies using Facebook, Twitter, and other
social media platforms; managing and maintaining social media accounts and creating
daily editorial calendars; coordinating digital outreach campaigns; and
experience using appropriate analytics to evaluate and report on social media
efforts.
Documenting experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description.
