As an Archivist with the ICE Office of Information Governance and Privacy (IGP), Records Division, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of policy, procedures, and guidance for the archiving and management of records created and maintained by ICE. Typical work assignments include:
Records Appraisal and Disposition - Analyzing and evaluating the value of records and determining which records to retain, discard, or destroy.
Archival Records Arrangement and Description Considering records under study in relation to ICE's activities and organization.
Preservation and Rehabilitation Safeguarding records from deterioration, damage or destruction, or from impairment of their value.
Documentary Publication, Historical Editing, and the Exhibit or Archival Materials Determining materials appropriate for publication, editing, and exhibition.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has established minimum education requirements
for the Archivist occupation. In order to meet this basic requirement, you must possess a:
Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government; or a
Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Note: Professional experience must have been in archival science, or in a directly related field of work such as history that involved the collection, appraisal, analysis, or synthesis of information having historical or archival values. The following are illustrative of kinds of experience that may be accepted as meeting the professional experience requirements: (1) experience as an archivist in Federal, state, religious institution, business, or other archives, or in manuscript depositories, and (2) experience of an archival nature that involved research in archival science, or in a directly related field such as history, government, economics, political science, international relations, or international law.
Minimum Qualifications:
In addition to meeting the above basic education requirements, you must also meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service, performing duties such as:
Collecting, analyzing and appraising information having historical or archival values;
Arranging documents within functional organizational categories in alphabetical, chronological, numeric, subject, or other order;
Performing records preservation activities (e.g. assessment of record condition, climate monitoring, foldering, re-boxing, or rehousing);
Reviewing records to verify that the descriptions of the records capture the elements of information needed by all record users; and
Responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) inquiries from members of the public who are seeking technical assistance or information.
National Service
Experience (i.e. volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid
experience, including work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace
Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic;
religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build
critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training
