This position is located at USAG Yongsan, Area II, in Seoul, Korea.  Korea, Land of the Morning Calm, has transformed itself into an economic powerhouse in less than five decades.  Seoul is one of the largest cities in the world with all of the amenities you would expect from any metropolis.  Located in the center of Asia, Korea has a great mix of historic and cultural sites to explore and traveling to other countries is very convenient.  http://www.army.mil/korea

This position is located at: US Army TMDE Region - Pacific TSC Camp Carroll, ATST Camp Coiner, Seoul, Republic of Korea

As part of the on-going transformation from USAG Yongsan to USAG Humphreys, this position WILL be required to move from Seoul to Pyeongtaek before the end of an initial tour

Help

The major duties of this position include the following: 

  • Studies and analyzes work operations and makes changes in workflow, methods, priorities, ect. to assure timely accomplishment of assigned workload.
  • Estimates and advises supervisor as to expected time of completion of work in relation to priorities or deadlines.
  • Makes estimates of production capability for use of supervisor in program planning.
  • Directs and reviews the work of subordinates.
  • Makes assignments; furnishes technical advice and assistance; instructs subordinates in specific task as necessary; makes available written instructions and reference materials.
  • Revises work for technical adequacy and compliance with instructions.
  • As requested, furnishes information to superior as to quality of subordinates' work.
  • Maintains liaison with other segments of the US Army TMDE Support Activity (USATAG) and customer needs to insure the most effective and efficient program.
  • Advises customers relative to repair and calibration of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.
  • Is responsible for the execution of administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the mission assigned.
  • With the advice and assistance of personnel, manpower and management specialists, promotes sound position management principles and programs.
  • Initiates request for filling vacancies or hiring additional personnel; selects or participates in the selection of new employees.
  • Initiates or recommends personnel or position actions; develops or participates in the development of work performance standards, observes workers, performance and periodically evaluates employee performance; identifies training needs, assures that training is given, evaluates training and stimulates self-improvement.
  • Provides advice and counsel to employees relative to work and administrative matters. Resolves informal complaints and grievances.
  • Maintains management-employee communications by clearing up attitude problems; assists employees in improvement of performance and keeps them informed of policies, personnel and other management programs.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • 1. This position is designated as an Emergency Essential Civilian (EEC) Position and requires the following: Taking an initial and yearly medical examination; remain in place in the overseas area in the event of hostilities or mobilization until relieved by proper authority; and receiving immunizations for the overseas/deployed location.
  • 2. Temporary duty assignment (TDY) will be required 10% or less of the time.
  • 3. Must obtain and maintain a National Agency Check (NACI) (Public Trust) security clearance.
  • 4. Must be able to lift, carry and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
  • 5. The work of this position is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation.

Qualifications

  • Ability to use tools in performing incidental repairs; maintain tools and equipment

Qualifying Experience: There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your resume, that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities (indicated below) to successfully perform the work of this position with the Ability to Lead or Supervise.

Have independently performed all of the following duties. I am consulted by other employees or in difficult situations regarding performance of the following duties: I have served as a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator Supervisor supervising employees in the calibration and repair of a wide range of calibration standards, participating in studies, making determinations to determine the test equipment limitations, and executing the administration and personnel management responsibilities.

OR

Have performed the majority of the following duties with minimal supervision:  plan, direct, and oversee the functions designed to increase the effectiveness of the calibration and repair program.

OR

Have performed the majority of the following duties under close supervision: perform simple Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator Supervisor tasks and completed training as a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator Supervisor.

Physical Effort:

Duties of this position will require you to lift, carry and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. This position requires a pre-appointment physical.

The work of this position is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation.

NOTE: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency so long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower grade in the series.  

Education

  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

  • On this overseas accompanied tour, medical and DoDDS special education services may not be available in the immediate location of this position.
  • In the overseas areas, access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Medical care may be provided by host nation providers. The availability and level of care at host nation medical facilities will vary by location. Movement overseas may require you to initiate a change in your health benefits plan to ensure coverage.
  • Pay retention may be offered to successful applicants for positions at overseas locations. For this provision to apply to employees already overseas, the selected individual would have to require a permanent change of station move and would have to be selected as a result of a recruitment effort that had been extended outside of the overseas command involved.
