Summary

About the Position:
This job provides the opportunity to support the mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot; which is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance and is the world's largest helicopters overhaul and repair facility. CCAD serves as the depot training base for active duty Army, National Guard, Reserve and foreign military personnel. We also provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support. Positions include those providing support to the maintenance of helicopters in a variety of shops or in an office setting.

Duties

Help

You will serves as a calibration specialist in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, optical/laser, physical and dimensional standards and measurements applicable to the calibration, certification and evaluation of test measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).   Provide calibration traceable through the Army Calibration Laboratory and Army Primary Standards Laboratory to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and provide information on TMDE accuracies and uncertainties under a variety of conditions. Perform repairs incidental to Calibration. Select, apply, and interpret electronic principles and practices as related to the specialty area as required to collect, reduce, display, actual data, and provide metrology information for a wide variety of general purpose TMDE. Uncertainties are computed and assigned through application and understanding of statistical methods.

  • EMERGENCY ESSENTIAL POSITION: This position is considered essential to support the Army's mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increasing tension or mobilization. It is considered emergency essential because (1) no qualified and immediate replacement exists and (2) having the position vacant would (a) impair the effective operation of essential military support systems or (b) adversely impact the combat or peacekeeping mission of deployed forces. Failure of the incumbent to remain in this position may result in separation for the efficiency of the Federal Service (Chapter 75, Title 5, USC; FPM Ch. 752. In addition, DA civilians who occupy emergency essential positions overseas must sign a statement of understanding including that as a requirement of the position, they will remain in the event of hostilities or mobilization until relieved by proper authority. E-E employees may be required to undergo nuclear-biological and chemical training and to participate in readiness tests, mobilization, alerts, and field training exercises. Employee must pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

SCREEN OUT ELEMENT: Your resume must indicate ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Resumes will be reviewed for experience and/or training which provided skills and knowledge of: (1) Passing on instructions and demonstrated work procedures. (2) Troubleshooting test, measurement, and diagonostic equipment (TMDE). (3) Using tools, measuring devices, equipment, and machinery of the trade. (4) Interpreting work orders, technical data, and other specifications to assure compliance with work requirements and documentation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
