This position is located at the Austin Army Aviation Support Facility (AAASF), Austin, TX. The purpose of this position is to instruct and perform flight crew work supporting multi engine aircraft, and to provide assistance to the pilot in the overall operation of the aircraft. Primary aircraft include LUH72A, and/or UH 60M Black Hawk transport helicopter. The aircrafts missions include combat service support airlift for movement of heavy supplies, aircraft and equipment, troop air assaults, extractions and resupply of troops, and aeromedical evacuations, search and rescue, and air support of national disasters and state contingencies.



Appointment Factor(s): This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Army National Guard and wear of the military uniform.  Applicants who are not currently a member of the Texas Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Texas Army National Guard.  If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a Texas Army National Guard recruiter at 512-218-1593 before applying for this position.

Help

FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR)
  • Serves as instructor/flight examiner providing instruction, evaluation and examination on ground and operational training flights to develop and upgrade skills of aircrew members. 
  • May perform duties of Flight Engineer which includes utilizing a knowledge of major aircraft systems associated with heavy multi-engine aircraft.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Compatible Military Assignment (per UMR):  Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the MOS to apply or be considered; however, applicant must be Duty MOS (DMOS) assigned to a compatible position in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations upon selection.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Required

To qualify at the GS-10 grade level your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting at least 24 months experience and/or knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations; aircraft performance data; aircraft records maintenance; and aircraft systems, assisting pilot in operating various aircraft systems, e.g., hydraulic, fuel, electrical or pressurization to assure safe operation of aircraft.
