Summary

This position is located within the Department of Defense (DoD), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Deputy Inspector General for Administrative Investigations (DIG-AI), Hotline Directorate.  The Hotline Division is responsible for receiving information pertaining to suspected threats to homeland security, leaks of classified information, and overseeing inquiries into allegations of fraud, waste and mismanagement affecting DoD programs and operations at the local, national and international levels.  The incumbent provides investigative support services to all phases of Hotline operations and serves as the point of contact for Hotline matters to an assigned DoD activity.

Help

As an Investigative Support Specialist (Hotline) your duties will include but are not limited to: 

1)  Tracking and monitoring notifications of investigative cases, preliminary inquiries, incoming and outgoing correspondence and reports of investigations.

 2) Analyzing investigative case files and correspondence including reports of investigation for Congressional inquiries.

3)  Preparing and editing interim and final Congressional correspondence and reports of investigation.

4)  Tracking and monitoring notifications of investigative cases, incoming and outgoing correspondence, case referrals and reports of inquiry.

5)  Recommending strategies on reports of investigations.

Requirements:

Position has been designated as Critical Sensitive; the individual(s) selected is(are) required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. 

Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.

Individuals that are still on active duty, please apply by marking #6 under Eligibility for Appointment/Consideration.  You will also need to submit a Statement of Service.

U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Requires 10% of temporary duty travel (TDY).

Permanent Change of Duty (PCS—Relocation) expenses WILL NOT be paid.

If you have not previously successfully completed a probationary period with the Federal Government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.

Position(s) may be filled by displaced Department of Defense (DoD) employees through the Priority Placement Program.

Required to complete a two-year trial period based on appointment type, such as Schedule A Excepted Service positions.

Qualifications

To meet the basic requirements, you must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent in the Federal service. 

GS-12
Specialized Experience is defined as experience that equips an applicant with the particular Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically related to the work of the position to be filled.  Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent that demonstrates skill in providing investigative support service during investigative cases, including opening and closing cases; conducts preliminary evaluation and examination of allegations of fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement; enters, extracts, and analyzes investigative data from an electronic case management system to determine priority level of complaint; and reviews all final reports of inquiry.

Candidates will be further evaluated on the level and quality of their experience and possession of the following relevant competencies in order to determine the level of your qualifications. These competencies include:
Competencies:
1. Skill in entering, retrieving and analyzing investigative data from an electronic case management system.
2. Written communication skill such as editing and writing reports of investigative data.
3. Oral communication skill to present information and answer detailed questions in responsibility areas.
4. Skill in managing and tracking investigative data across multiple case management systems.

Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.

All qualification and Time in Grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement
