The purpose of the Pathways Intern Employment Program is to provide the intern with exposure to public service, enhance educational experience, and provide financial support to encourage and support educational goals. The program is formally structured to give interns the opportunity to work in positions related to their academic/career goals. Participant completes assigned duties, tasks, and readings and developmental activities specified in the program. We are seeking students who have a core foundation of critical thinking, are self-motivated, and who work well with teams. You will support experienced professional employees and will engage in trainee experiences based on your current educational level.
Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student
Must be taking at least half-time academic course load
Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.9 or higher on a scale of 4.0
Must be at least 16 years old

Qualifications
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS POSITION, YOU MUST: a. Be a U.S. citizen; b. Be at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment; c. Be enrolled (or accepted for enrollment) as a degree seeking student in an accredited educational institution; d. Be enrolled at least half-time as defined by your educational institution; e. Have and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least a 2.9 (on a 4.0 scale); and f. Undergraduate students must have at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours remaining prior to graduation.
STARTING GS GRADE LEVELS ARE DETERMINED BY EDUCATION LEVEL: GS-05: Enrolled in a certificate program or bachelor's degree program and have completed at least 60 semester hours or at least 90 quarter hours of undergraduate education.
GS-07: Accepted in a master's or juris doctor program OR in the first year of a master's or juris doctor program.
Education
You must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university with major study in engineering, physical science, mathematics, life sciences, computer science, or other field of science. Engineering degree programs must be from a school with at least one engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Degree programs in other acceptable majors must be from colleges or universities accredited by the Department of Education.

Interns may be promoted to higher grades based on the amount of education completed, student trainee work experience, and acceptable performance. The promotion potential of the position to which you may be converted is (GS-13); however, promotions are not guaranteed.
Interns may be considered for conversion to a term or permanent appointment within 120 days of completion of degree requirements provided they:
1. Successfully complete an academic course of study with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.90 (on a 4.00 scale) and provide proof that the degree was conferred; 2. Complete a minimum of 640 hours of work experience under the Internship Program before completing degree requirements; 3. Meet the qualification requirements for the position to which they are converted; 4. Maintain acceptable performance; 5. Receive a favorable recommendation for conversion from his/her supervisor; and 6. Receive at least a fully successful or equivalent performance rating on the final evaluation.
Eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that NASA will offer conversion.
