Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position specialized experience is defined as: conducting research, analysis and/or writing in the field of visual culture, namely photography and film in support of a museum, cultural or educational institution; conducting research on photography and visual culture, donors, and vendors; writing graphic labels and texts related to publications and special exhibitions, and managing curatorial records, files and databases related to media arts.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.

Education may be substituted for the required specialized experience as follows: master's degree or 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or equivalent graduate degree related to the position may be substituted for the specialized experience. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

Or a Combination: A combination of qualifying education and experience may be used to meet the qualification requirements.
