Duties

Help

In this position, you will become a key member of the Planning, Analysis and Requirements Evaluation Directorate performing the below typical work assignments:

  • Integrating planning efforts across the CBP headquarters to align strategic, operational, functional, and institutional requirements;
  • Providing training workshops/seminars in methodologies, techniques, procedures, and other best practices;
  • Facilitating and coordinating strategic and institutional planning functions of the Agency;
  • Integrating processes in support of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Accountability (PPBA) framework; and
  • Ensuring analytic rigor, strategic foresight, and integrated risk management to empower CBP leadership to make the best informed decisions.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent performing duties such as:

  • Determining planning goals and objectives utilizing the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Accountability (PPBA) framework;
  • Assisting with organizational changes to the structure and content of a program or program segments; and
  • Compiling data to determine risk factors and providing findings and recommendations to leadership
AND

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent performing duties such as:
  • Analyzing a wide range of data to determine risk factors and providing recommendations for improvement on existing framework to address these risks
  • Assisting with long range planning, goals and objectives utilizing the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Accountability (PPBA) framework, and
  • Providing recommendations on organizational changes to the structure and content of a program or program segments.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must:
  • Meet all qualification requirements, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
  • Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 05/05/2017.

Background Investigation: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity. Residency: If you are not currently a CBP employee, you must meet one or more of the following primary residency criteria for at least three (3) of the last five (5) years, prior to applying to this announcement:
