Help

This position is located in the Defenses Security Services (DSS), Industrial Security Field Operations directorate in Fairview Heights, IL.

As a IT Specialist (INFOSEC) you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Serve as an Information Systems Security Professional (ISSP) within the Northern Region.
  • Perform cybersecurity activities including security control assessment in support of the Information Technology (IT) system authorization utilizing the Department of Defense Risk Management Framework (RMF) and exercise security oversight of cleared contractor information systems within the National Industrial Security Program (NISP).
  • Analyze, assess, evaluate, verify and validate contractor information system security plans, certification documentation for authorization and recommend the approval or disapproval to operate an Information System to the Regional Authorizing Official (RAO).
  • Develop and maintain security documentation and artifacts for Information Systems assigned and interface with industry security professionals to assess implemented security controls.
  • Enforce IT security control requirements, recommend configurations for information systems, telecommunications and networks and identify strategies to manage risk through mitigation of IT vulnerabilities, considering the rapidly evolving cybersecurity threat to IT systems.
     Serve as spokesperson at conferences and training meetings to convey NISP and RMF implementation guidance and cybersecurity information relating to industrial security.

Qualifications

This position has a Basic Requirement for the 2210 series: 

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Qualifying experience required for this position is:


Specialized Experience is defined as Senior level knowledge of advanced information technology (IT) principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices relating to information systems security in order to function as the technical authority for information systems security issues, as well as, extensive knowledge of common computer operating systems, networking fundamentals and architecture, and network security devices.

 Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:

Knowledge of systems, networks, operating systems, and system architecture.
2. Knowledge of Information systems security principles, controls, and related disciplines.
3. Knowledge of computer security technologies, objectives, problems and solutions.
4. Ability to serve as subject matter expert within the Industrial Security community.
5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
