As a Student Trainee, you will receive on-the-job training performing routine and recurring development assignments to acquire knowledge and understanding of functions, principles, practices, and methods used in financial management.
If selected for this opportunity, you will:
Assist with gathering, extracting, obtaining, compiling, and summarizing narrative information and quantitative data for use by higher level
analysts.
Maintain a variety of budget/financial control records to
reflect the financial status of various programs and activities.
Assist in compiling and verifying documents to
complete the Division's budget.
Compare current and planned expenditures
with authorized funding levels in order to determine if over or under
obligation of funds exists; edits and extracts budget and program data
from computerized database; and obtains printouts of accounting records,
forms, schedules and reports for use by higher graded analysts.
Maintain records and logs, by computer entry, for
funds authorized, commitments, and obligations, transfers of funds by
program or activity and adjustments of funds to meet changes in balance of
funds currently available.
Perform basic research of regulatory material to
obtain information and/or interpretation for use by senior
analysts/supervisor for problems such as unobligated commitments,
commitment adjustments, transfer of funds, improperly identified
obligations, etc.
A background
investigation will be required for this position. Continued employment is
contingent upon the completion and successful adjudication of a background
investigation.

Qualifications
Eligibility Requirements - To be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Internship Program:
You must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a degree or certificate program on a full- or half-time basis as defined by the school (certificate program means post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum); AND
Enrollment is with a qualifying educational institution such as a high school or state-approved homeschool; or accredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum; AND
Students currently enrolled must be in good academic standing maintaining a 2.5 grade point average on a cumulative basis.
You must continue to meet these eligibility requirements throughout the duration of your appointment under the Pathways Internship Program.
Minimum Qualification Requirements - Applicants must meet the following academic/education requirement:
GS-03: Completion of 1 full academic years of post-high school study or 6 months of general experience which is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
GS-04: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or associates degree or one year of general experience which is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Foreign Education - If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
