CECOM adapts, strengthens and sustains the critical C4ISR systems that joint warfighters rely on - allowing them to operate, fight and win anywhere, against any foe, at any moment.

Position(s) will be filled under the Department of the Army Pathways Intern Program. Click here for more information on Pathways program participation.  The Department of the Army Pathways Interns may be converted to a permanent position within 120 days of successful completion of the program.

The department of Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.

This position MAY lead to a career in the federal government's Administrative and Support field, such as a Program or Management Analyst or Logistics Management Specialist.

Full Potential Level Following a Conversion: GS-11 or GS-12 grade level, based on the directorate you are placed in within the organization.

Help

 As an intern, within one of our many directorates located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, you will be assigned to a senior specialist or group of specialists. You will be assigned tasks designed to familiarize you with different aspects of the occupation, and receive on the job training. Tasks will vary depending on the senior specialist's current workload, but may include the following:  

  • Assist senior specialists and supervisor in conducting program functions.
  • Assist in planning and organizing actions necessary to accomplish short and long program goals.
  • Research legal and regulatory material to obtain factual information and/or interpretation for use by the supervisor or co-workers.
  • Attend meetings and conferences to observe the proceedings.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship at the time of your conversion to permanent employment. NOTE: This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance throughout the duration of employment. US Citizenship is required to obtain this clearance, proof of US Citizenship will be required prior to initial internship appointment.
  • The duration of a Pathways appointment is a trial period.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Students are required to remain in good academic standing which is defined as initially possessing a grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher and maintaining it while employed in the Pathways Internship Program.
  • Students are required to stay enrolled at least half-time per semester to continue participation in the Pathways Internship Program and provide verification (transcripts) of successful completion of course every semester.
  • Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement must be signed upon appointment.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Pathways Internship at the GS-02, students must have completed High School or GED program. 

 

To qualify for a Pathways Internship at the GS-03, students must have completed one full academic year of post-high school study.  One full academic year is the number of credit hours determined by the college, university, or school to represent one year of full-time study.  

 

To qualify for a Pathways Internship at the GS-04, students must have completed two full academic years of post-high school study, or have an associate's degree.  Two full academic years is the number of credit hours determined by the college, university, or school to represent two years of full-time study.

 

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills abilities) in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of Clerical Skills
  • Skill in using automated computer systems
  • Ability to analyze
  • Ability to communicate effectively

NOTE: A copy of your transcripts AND proof of at least half time enrollment MUST be submitted at the time of application. You may be required to submit additional copies of transcripts prior to your appointment.

Additional information

Eligibility requirements for conversion to a permanent position. Interns must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program;
  • Complete their degree or certificate requirements
  • Meet the Office of Personnel Management's qualification standard, including any applicable positive education requirement and/or selective placement factors and any other designated special qualifications requirements and conditions of employment (e.g. medical standards) appropriate for the specific competitive service position to which the Intern will be converted;
  • Successfully complete all the requirements of the Internship Program as defined in the agency-participant agreement; and,
  • Perform their job successfully as documented through performance evaluations and/or completion of an Individual Development Plan (IDP)
  • Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.
