Provides photographic services as required to document the continuing history of the Supreme Court as an institution as well as the people who work at the Court, the architecture of the Supreme Court Building, and the historic objects and artwork in the Court's Collection. The Photographer must be a well-trained professional who can use technical proficiency and artistry to produce original images that meet a variety of needs. The incumbent must have extensive knowledge of, and proficiency in, all aspects of photography and digital image management. As part of these duties, the Photographer must keep informed about the latest equipment and techniques for creating, storing, and processing images in digital as well as traditional formats. A major component of this position is managing public access to the Court's Photograph Collections. In this capacity, the Photographer processes an average of 400 photograph orders each year. Some flexibility of hours is required because of evening and weekend events.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree and three to five years of progressively responsible experience in the field of photography or any directly related experience that has demonstrated a thorough understanding of the principles, practices and techniques of photography, image processing and image management is required. At least four years of additional experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Must be able to proficiently operate a variety of photographic equipment and accessories to include digital (Nikon and Hasselblad), still, and video cameras as well as artificial lighting, including strobe lamps. Must possess digital image processing skills and experience with Digital Asset Management software (Extensis Portfolio preferred). Must be comfortable working with a wide range of people from visiting dignitaries to the general public. Strong customer service attributes with organizational skill and attention to detail in record keeping required. Must be proficient with MS Word, Access, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, and other computer programs. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing is required. Must be able to plan, implement and work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must have flexibility to adapt to constantly changing environment and requirements.
