This position is located in the Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC), Preventative Medicine, Optometry Clinic, Fort Drum, NY. In this position you will receive telephone calls and visitors in the clinic. You will verify patient eligibility for treatment and schedule and/or coordinate appointments for patients at various clinics and explain necessary test preparations to patients. Interview patients to the clinic in order to determine the nature of the visit. Maintain all patient records electronically and in hard copy.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
General Experience: To qualify, applicants must identify in their resume that they possess one year of general experience that includes performing progressively responsible clerical, office or other work related to recordkeeping; providing clerical or administrative support; scheduling appointments, maintaining charts, files, or records; providing information to visitors; and utilizing a personal computer and office automation software programs.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

A qualified typist is required for this position (40 words per minute).

Education: In lieu of the experience listed above, you will qualify for this position if you have two (2) full years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
