The Small and Medium Enterprise Finance Department (SMEF) supports American investment abroad by providing long-term small to medium size loans to small and middle market clients in a wide variety of projects. Student Interns will perform work that supports: renewable energy, Africa Clean Energy Finance Initiative, housing, microfinance and impact investing, or other general industries. A student may also work with the business development team.
Structured Finance and Insurance Department (SFI) provides larger, long-term loans to finance large infrastructure projects and large financial services projects. Structured Finance teams work on infrastructure, renewable energy, oil and gas, financial services and a wide variety of other industries.

Serve as junior financial analysts and may be involved in all stages of project development as part of a project team.
Work on tasks in any of the stages of the origination process and will likely work on from three to six transactions depending on the number of transactions that a project team is involved in.
Review applications for financing and financial statements, build or analyze models of projected project cash flows, research various policy issues, prepare country economic and political risk analyses, prepare credit reviews of outstanding loans, work with Investment Officers to present the proposed loan to an approval committee, work with members of other departments to receive required policy clearances, work with a project team to construct terms sheets, participate in negotiations on loan agreement terms, or assist in the processing of disbursement requests.

Must submit a current 2016 transcript or proof of enrollment.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full or part-time accredited advanced degree/diploma program and be in good academic standing with a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average. The position requires academic concentration in international affairs/development, finance, and/or accounting. Previous experience within a Finance Institution is highly desired.
Qualifications
Graduate Degree Seeking Intern: must have graduate level academic concentration in international affairs/development, finance, and/or accounting. Previous experience within a Finance Institution is highly desired.
Other requirements include exposure to and experience in spreadsheet and computer modeling. DESIRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Excellent research and communication (oral & written) skills. SUBMIT SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT(S). Transcripts will be required if you are selected for an internship. You will be required to bring an official copy with you on the first day of your internship. Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment (at least half-time) in a relevant college degree program (diploma, certificate, etc.) at the time the internship would be served.
