Summary

Location negotiable in offices within the following states: CA, OR, Northern NV, ID, and WA.

The actual salary will be based on the salary table for the duty station of the location the selectee negotiates.

Help

Serves as a supervisor in Educational and Field Small Mine Services for Educational Policy and Development. Serves as an advisor to the Assistant Manager on activities related to the development and implementation of safety and health programs and other compliance assistance activities at mines across the nation. Manages the design, development, implementation of highly specialized, multifaceted health and safety programs to address the needs of mine operators. Responds to issues, problems or concerns identified by subordinates, stakeholders, or other parts of the organization. Directs the development of innovative and experimental special programs related to health and safety concerns at mines. This includes the development of programs addressing specific health and safety. Serves as an official/representative of the agency in the identification and development and safety and health programs and materials designed to reduce mine accidents and the occurrence of occupational illnesses.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-12, in the Federal service that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, experience and skills to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes, but it not limited to, analyzing and evaluating health/safety aspects of mining industry operations and processes; evaluating, analyzing and developing training or safety and health awareness programs; developing and implementing mine safety and health programs and materials that address accident prevention and/or specific health and safety problems; interpreting and providing training regulations and policies; experience communicating orally and in writing with MSHA, Federal, State and/or other government, union, and industry officials in order to exchange information, interpret policy, develop alternatives and encourage adoption of policies and procedures.
