Duties

Help

Major duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and define the EBSA information security program within Department of Labor (DOL) guidelines and specifications, and based on Agency requirements, and Manage the development of the EBSA System Security Plans (SSPs).
  • Define current system security architectures and identify needed improvements, and determine system security requirements for General Support Systems (GSS), Major Applications, and Minor Applications.
  • Contribute to the selection and deployment of state-of-the-art security technologies in EBSA systems; serve as a technical contributor for security issues for DOL enterprise efforts.
  • Develop EBSA-specific security implementation and operations policies and procedures and ensure alignment and compliance with the Departmental guidelines.
  • Review data collected by system security tools and contribute to analysis to determine inefficiencies, vulnerabilities, and approaches to enhance security for EBSA.
  • Prepare documentation for distribution to EBSA staff and contractor personnel concerning the security environment and requirements; develop and provide security awareness and training to EBSA IT users, and represent EBSA/DOL on various Federal IT security committees and panels.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-13, in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience is defined as experience with leading IT Security operations to include an in depth knowledge of IT Security principles, practices and techniques related to data security mandates and continuous monitoring to ensure compliance within database systems, applications and supporting infrastructure. Experience should include a working knowledge of automated tools, development of security documentation (Risk Assessments, Security Plans Security Operating Procedures, Security Polices. etc.), and the incumbent should demonstrate a responsibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Education

You cannot substitute education for experience at the GS-14 grade level.
