Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level

  • Assisting to write project and test documentation, to gather business requirements, and to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Researching potential IT solutions and the costs associated with leveraging those solutions.
  • Working directly with customers to gather information, collect feedback, gauge satisfaction, and advocate for their IT needs.
  • Identifying IT problems, verifying accuracy and relevance of information, and making recommendations about alternative solutions.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level
  • Writing project and test documentation, gathering business requirements, translating business requirements into technical solutions, and recommending process improvements.
  • Identifying IT solutions, evaluating costs/benefits associated with potential solutions, and prioritizing options within budget limitations.
  • Gathering customer requirements, determining their IT service needs, providing information or assistance, and assuring technology needs are met.
  • Identifying technology and/or service issues, determining accuracy and relevance of information, recommending solutions to the customer, and advocating on behalf of the customer to senior leadership.
AND
If you are qualifying based on experience, you must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Additional information

Due to COVID-19, NASA is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within 30 days. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the agency's telework policy.

This is a Term Appointment not to exceed 6 years.
