Duties

Help
  • Directs the review and evaluation of investigative results for investigative sufficiency and prosecutive justification.
  • Incumbent may direct the initiation of proactive investigations.
  • Directs, supervises, and plans the development of appropriate training for special agents.
  • Plans for and makes changes in the organization of work or assignment of functions to positions to improve operations.
  • Directs preparation and approves all performance plans, standards, and evaluations for special agents.
  • Conducts continuous coordination with law enforcement and legal representatives from various State, Department of Defense, and Federal agencies.

  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license at the time of appointment, must maintain license while employed in the position, and will be required to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must qualify with and carry a firearm.
  • Must sign DA Form 5019-R and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter. Position is subject to random drug testing.
  • Must have completed the CID Basic Special Agent Course, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Criminal Investigator Training Program, or equivalent prior to or within 1 year of employment. Failure to do so will result in removal from employment.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • A medical examination is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as: Planning, developing, and coordinating criminal investigations, planning and directing investigative support operations and providing investigative guidance to subordinate criminal investigators.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Performance of above duties requires moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that the incumbent may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, glasses permitted, must be acute for reading of printed materials the size of typewritten characters. The ability of incumbent to hear conversational voices and whispered speech is required. Any hearing impairment may be compensated for by use of a hearing aid. Since the duties of the position are exacting, responsible, and involve work performed under arduous and dangerous conditions, you must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition, which would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself or to others, will disqualify him/her.

Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP): LEAP in the amount of 25% has been approved for this position. Applicants must agree to work an average of two hours extra per day to meet the requirements for LEAP as described in 5 U.S.C.5545a(d)(1).
