Duties

Help
  • Serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist for aviation weapon and support systems assigned toregional operational activities within CONUS and OCONUS areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for the life cycle quality of goods and services through incorporating value-added assurance practices into Command technology, acquisition and logistics processes.
  • Assist AMCOM’s organic quality assurance core competencies including; quality systems management, quality engineering, product quality management, verification, validation, and software quality.
  • Manage production, quality and execution aspects of AMCOM’s field maintenance and systems modification work order (MWO) programs on all Army aircraft.
  • Provide instructions, advice and training to ensure command objectives, programs and projects are understood.
  • Function as liaison between the Aviation Field Maintenance Activity, the Contractor and all supported units; coordinates logistical requirements, monitors contractor performance and prepares contract specifications.

  • This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license per Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) country of assignment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport and Official NO-FEE Government Passport.
  • This position is subject to a mobility or rotation agreement as a condition of employment. You will be required to relocate based on management needs for the duration of employment in this or successor positions.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the completion of a Deployment Physical Examination at any time to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position while deployed.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last One Year. A term position may be extended to a maximum of eight years depending upon the needs of management.
  • This position may require the incumbent to ride as a passenger of an Army Rotary-Wing Aircraft (Utility and Cargo).
  • This position may require the incumbent to be on call and work irregular hours.

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) One Year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position cannot be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting with Quality Assurance (QA) programs for aviation weapon systems, subsystems, or ground support equipment; 2) Monitoring the execution of aviation field maintenance, modification work orders (MWO) and component repairs; 3) Performing contract surveillance utilizing established checklists and quality data analysis; and/or 4) Applying aviation safety regulations, technical manuals and guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
