Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.
JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to inspect the repair of a variety of armament equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.
The major duties include, but are not limited to:
Inspects a variety of armament materiel such as towed and self-propelled artillery, tank turrets and weapons, small arms, chemical weapons and similar material as well as optical and fire control equipment.
Inspects equipment received for maintenance to determine repairs needed and parts required or to determine if Modification Work Orders (MWO) have been applied.
Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed.
Inspects the full range of equipment as described above at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility.
Uses a wide variety of test and diagnostic equipment such as borescopes, pullover gauges, nitrogen pressure gauge, and other tools and tests used in inspection of armament to determine extent of repairs required and assure that repairs or modifications meet quality assurance standards.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done in shop areas that are drafty and noisy. Frequently stands on hard surfaces for long periods. Dirt, dust, and grease are usually present. There is exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and sprains as well as to falls on slippery and inclined surfaces.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling. Works in confined spaces and in awkward positions. Lifts and carries parts and assemblies weighing from 15 to 25 pounds. Some may weigh as much as 40 pounds. Weight handling equipment or the assistance of other workers is available for heavy lifts.

Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
Direct Deposit is mandatory.
Incumbent is required to serve a 2-year trial/probationary period.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems; the ability to recognize improper operation, locate the cause and determine best method of correcting defects; ability to use technical manuals, tools and measuring equipment in making repairs and adjustments.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 18 months of specialized experience in the following:
Experience or training demonstrating a broad knowledge in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and major components of weapons equipment.
Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining needed repairs in weapons systems.
Experience demonstrating the ability to inspect all weapons systems.
Experience interpreting and applying drawings, schematics, blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of small arms, artillery, optical instrument and combat vehicle weapon systems repair, inspection and testing procedures to inspect and detect
mechanical, electrical, electronic or hydraulic malfunctions.
Skill to use a wide variety of test and diagnostics equipment to perform fault isolation and conduct repair of combat vehicle weapons systems.
Ability to operate and understand original equipment manufacturer computerized diagnostic equipment and embedded diagnostics.
Ability to utilize, interpret and apply parts list, manufacturer's repair manuals, technical manuals, diagrams, engineering drawings, diagnostic computer information, and schematics.
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) is a mandatory condition of employment,
subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure
to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or termination of full-time employment unless extenuating circumstances preclude course
attendance.

No substitution of education for specialized experience.

Primary Change of Station (PCS) relocation expenses will NOT be paid.
