This National Guard position is for a FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR), Position Description Number PD D2306000 and D2303000 and is part of the WY 153rd Operations Group, Wyoming Air National Guard.

This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. Military affiliation is required.

Help

The primary purpose of this position is to perform aircrew duties as an instructor flight engineer for the C-130 aircraft; to administer, schedule and conduct flight and ground training for flight engineers; and to perform staff support duties.

(1) Develops and provides technical flight engineer upgrade and proficiency training and instruction to aircrew members.
(2) Leads or participates in process improvement teams to recommend improvements to instructional methods or processes.
(3) Performs pre- and post -flight inspections. Performs preflight inspection of the interior and exterior of the aircraft, to include engines, fuselage, and control surfaces for mechanical and structural soundness; inspects and regulates environmental, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, pressurization, radar, and other systems as required by the applicable flight manual.
(4) Performs flight engineering duties. Operates and regulates environmental, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, pressurization, radar, and other systems as required by the flight manual.
(5) Serves as a flight examiner as required and performs staff duties.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Open to current or prior service active duty, reserve or national guard members of one of the branches of the US Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard,
Military members: Submit vMPF Rip, DVR, STP, ERS, MBS, or PDR with resume.
Prior service members: Submit a DD Form 214.
Must become a military member of the Wyoming Air National Guard before appt.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:
Paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT).
Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses.

Acceptance of a permanent or indefinite position will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS).
PCS is not authorized in lieu of incentives.

Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f).

1. Required to travel in military and /or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
2. Must maintain instructor qualification and remain proficient in the principles of instruction.
3. Must attain/maintain mission ready status for the crew qualification level in the assigned aircraft.
4. Exposed to hazards associated with aircraft flights including but not limited to: gravity forces, working in strained or cramped positions as well as exposure to inclement weather during ground ops, climbing, kneeling, and bending.
5. May perform maintenance or act as crew chief in the accomplishment of maintenance when away from home station.
6. Required to maintain proficiency and currency in the use of small arms. May be required to carry and use a concealed weapon while performing aircrew duties.
7. Required to complete an annual flight physical and maintain currency of the required immunizations.
8. Require a clearance based on security access requirement.

Qualifications

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:
Referrals of qualified applicants will be issued as follows:

Area 1: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) WY ANG employees assigned to the 153 OG.
Area 2: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming Air National Guard (ANG) T32 Dual Status technicians employed within the Wyoming Air National Guard.
Area 4: All current military members of the Wyoming Air National Guard.
Area 6: Current and prior service military members separated from any branch of the military to include US Air Force, US Army, US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard, Reserves, and National Guard components. Must be willing/eligible to join the Wyoming Air National Guard as a military member prior to appointment to position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess experience which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations; aircraft performance data; aircraft records maintenance; and aircraft systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must possess experience with electrical, communication, navigation, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems applying to aircraft and related systems; flight theory; minor in-flight maintenance; personal equipment and oxygen use; aircraft emergency procedures; and using and interpreting diagrams, schematics, aircraft performance charts, loading charts, technical publications and flight manuals.

GS-9 Qualification Entry Requirements: Must meet AFSC 1A1X2L, Mobile Force Aviation ASVAB requirements as listed below.

GS-10 Qualification Requirements: Must be certified as a Flight Engineer (Instructor) and include completion certificate with application.

NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from MM/YYYY - MM/YYYY (e.g., 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar - 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS:
Must possess or be eligible to retrain into AFSC 1A132L, Mobile Force Aviator.
