About the Position: This position is located in the Family Practice Medical Homeport Team Two, Family Medicine, of the local medical treatment facility. The purpose of the position is to perform a variety of medical and clerical support duties which facilitates the work of providers and professional nurses.

Duties

Help
  • Maintains a friendly, "customer-first" perspective in dealing with patients.
  • Performs initial screening of patients including but not limited to scrubbing of schedule, patient check in, record/report retrieval, recording vital signs and initial complaint.
  • Prepares patients for, and assist providers with, patient exams/procedures as required.
  • Completes necessary paperwork as directed.
  • Attends clinic meetings as directed.
  • Participates in clinic and command training activities.
  • Assists in ensuring clinic spaces are presentable to patients-spot cleaning if necessary, organizing reading material, etc
  • Collects laboratory specimens, performs echocardiograms and performs basic lab tests on the premises

  • Required to obtain immunizations (i.e., Hepatitis B, annual influenza) unless exempted by a physician.
  • Required to have and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/ or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General and/or Specialized Experience: Six months of general experience (1) in any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with assisting with patients in a hospital or clinic AND six months of specialized experience which includes includes preparing and cleaning examination rooms between patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).

Education: Two years of education above the high school level.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages.
