76% or greater - This position is aboard a dredging vessel, travel on the vessel is required (during dredging season). Schedules generally run 15 days on and 13 days off, with 1 rotation of 8 days on and 6 days off in January each year.

Make scheduled and special operational checks of equipment to include switchboards, rheostats, relays, circuit breakers voltage regulators, dredge pump speed control system, telemotor steering system, engine order telegraph, etc.
Observe gauges, pistons, notes unusual conditions (heating, oil or grease loss, loose fittings, broken or inoperative units, etc.) and makes repairs or adjustments as required.
Make periodic or special preventative maintenance checks of units.
Listen, dismantles, observes, replaces scheduled or worn elements, lubricates, packs, repairs, etc., as required.
Install replacement or new equipment (floodlights, signals, fixtures, etc.)
Repair, or participates in the repair, of any electrical unit on board (motors, pumps, generators, control panels, special equipment, etc.)
Itemize materials and parts used. Changes instrument charts.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Must be able to take and pass a pre-employment physical and one annually thereafter.
Possess or be willing and able to obtain and maintain a Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping as a Able-Seafarer Engine and an Electrician's Endorsement on their valid Merchant Mariner Credential within 24 months of entrance on duty.
Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.
Must be willing to serve a one-year probationary period, if applicable.
Must be willing and able to travel up to 95% of the time for business related purposes.
This is a drug testing designated position requiring pre-employment testing and random testing.
You MUST possess a current United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC) with a wiper/ oiler endorsement AND a current Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC);
and possess a Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) with valid Electrician's Endorsement) or be able to obtain one within 24 months of entrance on duty.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MARINE ELECTRICIAN (DUAL RATE) (Direct Hire Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision. - Your resume must demonstrate you have the ability to perform common maintenance duties on electrical equipment aboard a sea-going vessel such as repairing electrical equipment, using hand tools, and determining when there is an issue. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): for Marine Electrician (Dual Rate), WK-2805-12 position. You must possess a current United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), with an oiler endorsement and obtain a Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) with valid Electrician's Endorsement, within 24 months of entrance on duty AND a current Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). - You MUST UPLOAD your USCG Credentials or you may be rated ineligible.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the parts of the system worked on are in hard-to-reach places. Duties require long periods of time standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up tools and equipment, and parts that weigh up to 45 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in closed areas with some work outside. Considerable time is spent in or adjacent to the engine room area with its attendant noise, heat, and fumes. Works in very close places and in awkward positions. Subject to the usual electrical hazards involving shock, strain, burns, cuts, falls from ladders, and fumes and heat while working in confined quarters.
