Summary

This position will be assigned to the Fitness Center located at JBSA Fort Sam Houston TX.

This is a regular full-time position with guaranteed 35 hours per week. May work up to 40 hrs./wk.

Duties

Help

Manages all aspects of the base adult sports progran1 to include intramural, extramural, and varsity as directed by supervisor. Conducts and documents weekly inspections of all adult sports equipment, fields, and facilities to ensure they are maintained in safe condition. Coordinates safety inspections criteria with base safety. Designs and implements installation core sports program to ensure the highest level of participation from squadrons, units and individuals. Develops annual sports plan. Develops sports bylaws. Coordinates programs with Fitness and Sports Advisory council. Plans, organizes and administer recurring and nonrecurring activities, special events, and joint military and civilian community events with assistance of the local marketing activity. Coordinates volunteers for each activity. Plans and develops publicity programs. Conducts customer surveys to evaluate effectives of ongoing activities. Arranges for supplies and services needed to accomplish scheduled activities. Prepares playing surfaces and facilities for sporting events and ensures sport fields are presentable throughout the year. May operate a government vehicle to include light truck, sedan, golf cart etc. Works under the direct supervision of JBSA Ft Sam Houston Fitness & Sports Director. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:

Must have practical knowledge of equines such as handling, riding and tacking. Familiar with the use of Western/English tack.

Certification from a national riding instruction program, an undergraduate degree with a major course of study in the subject matter area related to the position to be filled.

OR

Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment, principles, or practices of the subject or occupation. This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor, in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject matter field of the position to be filled.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
1. The ability to safely teach a group lesson of at least three students at a time with a maximum of six students.
2. The ability to complete all components of a lesson in no more than 75 minutes.
3. Ability to effectively schedule a minimum of 2-hour lesson blocks per day worked.
4. Ability to safeguard and handle cash, processing payments with minimal errors.
5. Provide good customer service with no more than 2 customer complaints per quarter.
