Duties

Help
  • Serves as the Assistant Aquatics Program Manager responsible for the daily operation and supervision of aquatic fitness, training and recreational programs, personnel, and classes at aquatic facilities.
  • Responsible for conducting water survival training in accordance with the CWST guidance.
  • Assists aquatic manager with coordination with the MWR marketing department to publicize aquatic events; assists with the process to evaluate the effectiveness of the aquatic programs.
  • Reviews budget execution reports with the aquatic manager to ensure desired execution rate is met. Assists in the preparation of the annual quarterly and monthly budget input including UFR updates and request for special funding.
  • Assists with the arrangement of equipment, supplies and services needed to accomplish assigned functions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1. Demonstrated experience in planning and executing aquatic programs. This experience may have been gained managing indoor or outdoor aquatic programs and facilities. Required experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level. An undergraduate or graduate degree in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology may be substituted for six (6) months of the required work experience.

2. Possesses and maintains the following certifications:

  • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS);
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association);
  • Current certifications in Lifeguarding Instructor and Water Safety Instructor.
3. The following certification must be obtained within 6 months of appointment:
  • Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification
Highly Desirable Qualifications
1. Familiar with Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).
2. Possesses a Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.
3. Completion of MWR Sports and Fitness Administration Course.

Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
