In this position, you will use your expertise to oversee and manage USBPs internal and external correspondence program and taskings functions within the Office of the Chief of Staff in support and on behalf of the U.S. Border Patrol.

This position starts at a salary of $142,488.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $185,234.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

As a Program Manager (Taskings Specialist), you will provide internal and external expert technical advice and essential professional services on controversial and sensitive matters related to the component's correspondence requests, taskings and official requests for information. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Preparing executive level documents with varying types of complex correspondence that include but are not limited to Congressional inquiries, citizen letters, and required reports, at times signed by the CBP Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner.
  • Acting as a liaison between USBP and the CBP Office of Executive Secretariat for correspondence assignments and reconciliation requests.
  • Leading, coordinating, and assigning complex requests for the CBP taskings program assigned to USBP HQ, in collaboration with other CBP and DHS office components.
  • Reviewing and revising completed work for clarity and conciseness and ensuring responses are consistent with USBP's views and priorities, and align with current USBP's goals, strategies, initiatives, and policies before dissemination.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

  • Monitoring correspondence workflows through the organization identifying potential barriers that may cause delays and implement process improvements to streamline the workflow.
  • Determining the applicability and effect of new and proposed legislation, executive orders, policies, directives and USBP directives and other departmental decisions on requirements.
  • Providing technical assistance and directing support to team members and management in all matters relating to the application of planning and managing programs and projects to meet mission requirements.
  • Planning, developing and implementing comprehensive in person training for the USBP tasking program and all USBP HQ personnel to enhance effectiveness.
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring reports and systems that focus on long- and short-range plans, policies and programs.

  • Ability to communicate on an expert level both orally and in writing for the preparation and compilation of the comprehensive reports, studies, and correspondence that are disseminated both inside and outside of the USBP.
  • Skill using various software to create reports from the information in various applications (i.e. daily use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and Salesforce software).
