Duties

Help
  • Manages and controls materials and supplies.
  • Works within a framework of established supply regulations, policies, and procedures, or other governing supply guidelines.
  • Applies knowledge of systems, techniques, and underlying management concepts for determining, regulating, or controlling the level and flow of supplies from initial plan through acquisition, storage, issues and utilization or disposal.
  • Utilizes Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) and Bar Code software to track and manage inventory.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Supply Technician (Inventory), PG-2005-6, you must meet the following requirements:

To qualify for the Supply Technician (Inventory), PG-2005-06, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-05 level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private sector that includes: 1) Utilizing warehouse and inventory management systems to oversee stock control and reporting operations effectively; and 2) Maintaining purchasing and inventory records, including preparing reports, analyzing data, and utilizing systems such as Excel spreadsheets; and 3) Identifying and resolving discrepancies using radio frequency identification (RFID) and barcode software to ensure data accuracy and operational efficiency.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (06/24/2025) to be considered.

Education

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Background Investigation:
For a Suitability:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a background investigation for Suitability. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background check for Suitability. This review could include fingerprints and credit checks, as well as a full field FBI background investigation and tax and bar checks for attorney applicants. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position; this process may take 6 weeks or longer. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to pass the background investigation.
