Duties

Help

As a Assistant Director of Protection and Chief Mint Police, you will:
-Plan, develop, implement, direct, manage, and appraise physical security and contingency security programs at all Mint facilities.
-Be responsible for the personnel security program, which ensures that the employment and retention of employees, access to facilities and systems by contractor personnel and other invitees, are clearly consistent with the interests of national security.
-Be responsible for the protection and physical security of information technology (IT) assets, including IT facilities, IT personnel, IT hardware and software, and IT lines of communication.
-Be responsible for the physical security of sensitive and classified official documents.
-Be responsible for comprehensive planning for emergency preparedness and for continuity of protection and security police operations.
-Supervise through subordinate officers, approximately 250 police officers comprising six police forces that report to field chiefs or an officer-in-charge.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Be sure all experience is documented in your resume by indicating place of employment, job title, length of time performing the duties, and the name and contact information for the supervisor. We must be able to verify this experience in your resume in order for you to receive credit.

For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Plan, evaluate, develop and manage law enforcement initiatives, to include physical, personnel, IT, and document security programs; and
-Design, develop, and installing protective systems and devices to ensure that sensitive information, protection of resources and high-value assets, equipment, and other material is not compromised, sabotaged, stolen, misused, or subjected to malicious mischief or other acts of willful interference; and
- Develop and implement policies and procedures and ensuring that the policies and procedures are communicated to all personnel; and
- Manage suitability determination and adjudicating background investigations; and
- Planning for emergency preparedness and for continuity of protection and security police operations.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15 you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • This position is designated as emergency essential.
  • The incumbent must be ready and able to deploy as required in support of varied contingencies and under severe and austere conditions. The incumbent may deploy for brief periods during a contingency event.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
  • May be required to File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
  • May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include equipment belt, body armor, riot gear, etc.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for this testing designated position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random drug testing while the position is occupied.
  • Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside [Lautenberg Amendment - 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) (9)].
  • Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license upon appointment OR within 90 days of appointment (as appropriate) and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position.
  • Tattoos/Branding/Intentional Scarring- Full sleeve tattoos are permissible as long as they are not deemed offensive, racist or sexist. Visible tattoos, branding or intentional scarring, or body art on the head, face, neck or scalp are prohibited. Any visible tattoos that are offensive, extremist, indecent, racist or sexist are prohibited. Visible body piercings while on duty and/or in uniform, with the exception of agency approved earrings are prohibited.
