Duties

Help
  • Monitor the Military Healthcare System (MHS) for trends, analysis, and comparisons, gather and interpret data, making recommendations to leadership on findings that may affect productivity, access, and quality of Service.
  • Identify problems with health care processes and recommend alternatives to improve processes, identifying and reporting any quality improvement issues.
  • Monitor and assist in the preparation of the annual budget, determining whether requests for funds and expenditures are proper, justified, and timely.
  • Provide weekly individual or group training to assure personnel are informed of procedural problems and changes to policies or practice guidelines pertaining to Program administration.
  • Assists leadership in achieving clinic goals regarding access, volume, patient demand, patient safety, and staffing.
  • Along with clinic leadership, responsible for appointment standardization, templates, patient access, and provider schedule management.
  • Ensure and monitor Joint Commission and required inspections compliance.
  • Accumulate, develop, maintain, interpret, and analyzes a variety of statistical and demographic data including charts, graphs, and/or reports data.
  • Maintains efficient and accurate patient scheduling, referral documentation, appointment/template management and Access to Care.
  • Coordinate and consult with department supervisors on program administrative matters.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating and consulting with leadership on program administrative matters; utilizing various databases and healthcare systems such as Military Healthcare System Genesis to monitor healthcare delivery processes within a medical treatment facility (MTF); and identifying and reporting quality improvement issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
