Duties

Help

As a Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant, GS-0301-12, you will advise, carry out and monitor the Wing Commander's organizational policies, programs and standards applicable to the ANG enlisted force. Manage, study, analyze and oversee the administration, coordination, planning, development, and execution of all Wing level ANG enlisted members programs with particular emphasis on readiness, morale, welfare, discipline, performance, training, awards and recognition, recruiting, equal opportunity, promotion, assignment and reassignment, administration and utilization, as they affect the service contributions of Wing ANG enlisted personnel to the accomplishment of the state's federal and domestic missions. Provide general supervision of the assigned ANG enlisted forces and is the functional manager for the wing First Sergeants, and the wing Honor Guard program. Develop, participate, and provide guidance in planning, publicizing, and administering ANG enlisted awards and recognition programs at the wing. Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT: Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status.

INDEFINITE: Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician. Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period. Indefinite appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

REPROMOTION CONSIDERATION (Applies to technician applicants only.)

Technicians who have been demoted from this or a higher grade previously held in the same occupational series without personal cause and who are not in a grade retention status will be given consideration for re-promotion.
