Duties

Help
  • Incumbent will serve as the Customer Service Representative for civilian pay providing technical guidance to civilian employees.
  • Resolve civilian payroll issues and timekeeping issues. Review time and attendance data that may impact pay, such as; electronic funds transfers (EFT), leave, taxes, benefits, for accuracy.
  • Serve as the agency intermediary between the customers (serviced clientele) and the Defense Finance and accounting Services (DFAS) payroll processing centers.
  • Provide technical assistance to command and timekeepers regarding the operations of the online Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS).
  • Review and interpret a wide range of payroll laws, policy, regulations, and directives.
  • Conduct special studies and work on projects, which address pay problems/issues encountered across management functional lines for the elimination or reduction of similar problems.
  • Utilize a variety of automated attendance/payroll/accounting systems such as Automated Time and Attendance System (ATAAPS), Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS), General Fund Enterprise System (GFEBS) to enter and retrieve data.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: researching and reconciling personnel issues such as pay problems; providing technical assistance to employees regarding attendance entry and time keeping; utilize a variety of automated systems such as; General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), Automated Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS), and/or Defense Civilian Pay System (DCPS) to retrieve and enter data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
