Help

A HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST, GS-0201-09, plans, organizes, and oversees the full complement of activities within the Group Commander's Support Staff (CSS). The incumbent will administer and direct the Group Commander's Support Staff functions to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Additionally, trains in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. Will implement and enforce all Air Force cybersecurity policies and procedures using the guidance within AFI 33-200 instruction and applicable specialized cybersecurity publications as unit Cybersecurity Liaison (CL). Administers the Defense Travel System (DTS); provides training, approves e-finance process, creates profiles and pulls reports. Manages a myriad of Unit Commander's programs to include; Drug Demand Reduction Program, Urinalysis, Voting Assistance, promotions and demotions, evaluations, separations, retirements, benefits, entitlements, retention, classification, awards, decorations, retraining, casualty, Defense Travel System (DTS), Government Purchase Card Program, Government Travel Card Program, Air Force Fitness Program, Unit Security Program, Unit Self-Inspection Program, Unit File Maintenance, Unit Health Monitor, and personnel readiness programs. Identifies requirements and initiates requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, and space to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives. Reviews, reconciles and accomplishes corrective action on Unit Manpower Document (UMD). Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E4 through E6

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience gained through military or civilian technical training schools, within the human resources business programs, are included as general experience qualifications. An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade:

  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately
  • Ability to clearly enunciate English without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit efficient communication
  • Ability to write English in reports and presentation formats
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings
  • Ability to assess body language and perceive emotional and/or distress levels
  • Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-07 level or equivalent, to include: a basic working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and personnel programs; basic knowledge and experiences of personnel programs gained in a classroom or as an on-the-job trainee; knowledge-based competency of human resources business elements and can discuss terminology, concepts, principles, and issues related to this competency; experienced in using references and resource materials and experienced in program functions such as, maintaining personnel records, counseling, or classification and assignments; experiences may include performing personnel functions associated with preparing and maintaining position descriptions and manual records, personnel classification or usage, quality force management, managing personnel records and researching record data; and experienced in operating a computer and using varied computer programs.

Specialized experience may be substituted with the following education: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary, although some physical effort or exertion may be required in the performance of duties. There may be some episodes of light lifting or prolonged periods of standing.

Work Environment: Work typically involves normal risks and discomforts common to an office setting. Incumbent may be required to travel in military or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments. The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily Air National Guard technician duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned some non-technician duties.
