Duties

Help

As a Policy Analyst, GS-0301-13, your typical work assignments may include the following:

1. Serves as a Desk Officer (policy analyst) with policy related experience in the area of pertinent federal government laws and regulations.

2. Initiates and performs high level objective qualitative and quantitative analysis of portions of complex policy and/ or economic issues to inform decision making.

3. Leads the development and presentation of recommendations to higher-level decision makers.

4. Reviews and interprets pertinent subject-related directives, proposed legislation, and policy documents.

5. Monitors OMB policy for assigned areas to ensure integration and compliance.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standards.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.

ALL QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE MET BY THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.

You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or private sector that demonstrates your ability to: (1) Conducting analyses of regulations and/or regulatory policy to identify significant economic, scientific, industrial policy, and legal issues; (2) Advising on agency policies designed to increase reliance on domestic supply chains and ultimately reduce the need to spend taxpayer dollars on foreign-made goods; AND (3) Leading the development of policy documents to provide recommendations to higher-level decision makers.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
