This position is a supervisory position within the Pharmacy Department of the Red Lake Indian Health Service. The incumbent is responsible for the coordination/supervision of the Inpatient Pharmacy and Emergency Department Pharmacy Services including traditional drug distributional activities and the provision of clinical pharmacy services.

Reviews patient's charts for appropriateness of treatment, drug interactions, proper dosage, and compliance when dispensing medications.; properly interpreting prescription; reviewing patient medical record for safety, appropriateness and effectiveness of drug therapy; alerting medical staff to any prescription or dosage that could be harmful to patient.
Supervises staff Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians by planning work to be accomplished by subordinates and prepares schedules for completion of work; assigns work to subordinates based on priorities and capabilities of employees; evaluates work performance of subordinates

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: In order to qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements.
Completed a doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (You must submit a copy of your most recent transcript(s) that identify type of degree and date conferred).
OR
Enrolled in a professional Pharmacy program and expect to complete the qualifying education. (You must submit a copy of your most recent transcript(s) and documentation from the educational institutions registrar, dean or other appropriate official to support your expected completion date.)
Licensure: A permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

I am currently enrolled in a professional pharmacy program and expect to obtain my license/certification/registration.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-12 - Specialized Experience: one year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least GS-11 grade level. This experience is related to the work of the position in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include: Collaborate with physicians to discuss potential incompatibility issues with patient prescriptions; maintain accurate inventory of medications; offer information to assist patients in understanding how to properly take their prescribed medications; work with the pharmaceutical staff to maintain a clean, customer-friendly workplace; assist patients in solving problems, such as identifying old medication or finding an over-the-counter solution to minor health issues.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
