Duties

Help

Plan, direct, organize, and manage such areas as logistics planning and readiness, security forces, civil engineering, communications, services, and personnel. Incumbent manages a limited number of support functions or does not have the full complement of base support services as these services are provided by the host activity.

Provide subordinate supervisors and staff with direction and advice regarding policies, procedures, and guidelines; balances workload and provides overall direction and vision to the subordinate supervisors on a wide range of logistics program management and administrative issues.

Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities; direct, coordinate, and oversee work through subordinate supervisors.

Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with other group senior personnel; meet with customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain policy and procedures, and resolve significant problems that arise.

Accomplish special staff studies and projects resulting from reorganizations, regulatory changes, new technology, mission changes, etc.

  • Position may or will require incumbent to Fly in aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments
  • Required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance

  • The incumbent must possess demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities essential to successful accomplishment of the responsibilities inherent in a senior command position.
  • Leave accrual may be authorized upon request
  • Incumbent must be willing to move/transfer to another unit/ location on a lateral or promotion as directed by HQ AFRC.
  • This is a key management position in which the incumbent is required to formulate, determine or influence training policies of the unit to which assigned.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service (or equivalent in other pay systems) in which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience that reflects and provides the ability to effectively manage personnel, supervise, provide leadership in developing, implementing, evaluating processes, procedures and services to improve the organizations mission. Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the activities and operations of the organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of a variety of logistics functions including but not limited to communications, civil engineering, mission support, logistics planning and readiness, supply, transportation, contracting services, civil engineering.

2. Knowledge of support mission requirements in all areas of base support.

3. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise a highly diverse staff and workforce through subordinate supervisors.

5. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of several organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

6. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in relations with labor groups, civic groups, unit organizations, and communicate both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is an Air Reserve Technician Officer position.

Air Reserve Technicians are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy Air Reserve Technician positions. As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve. Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.
