About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts at Luke AFB, AZ.

This is a Flexible position, no benefits.

Requires continuous standing, walking and stooping and must be physically able to lift and carry items up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Duties

Help

Assists assigned personnel in all areas of the Arts & Crafts Program, as directed by the supervisor. Operates a variety of equipment in assigned frame shop area, to include computerized mat cutters, copiers, printers, heat presses, choppers and hand power tools. Responsible for operating the cash register, collects money, makes change and issues receipts. At the end of each shift assists in the completion of daily deposits. Communicates with and assists customers in placing orders with attention to style, size, materials and cost and helps them understand colors, design and layout of framing and matting. Assists in placing orders and receiving and maintaining merchandise for the frame shop. Conducts inventories monthly ensuring pricing is accurate and current and provides results to supervisor. Stocks shelves and displays merchandise creating impactful merchandise presentations according to sales and event plans. Cuts glass to size and mounts backing materials and the item for framing. Fits items to ready-made frames. Assesses the value of artwork to decide the level of framing required. Determines the best materials and methods to ensure the preservation of historic and valuable artwork. Completes customer work orders in sufficient detail to preclude any errors. Provides accurate price quotes of materials required to complete projects. Maintains security of all merchandise, equipment and funds assigned. Assists in planning and conducting various instructional classes, demonstrations, and displays in various base facilities. Maintains various routine administrative and operating forms and records. Provides customer service, answers telephones, and assists shop users with craft skill development and work procedures. With guidance from the supervisor, provides demonstrations and guidance on crafts. Assist the facility supervisor as requested. Receives and logs merchandise and creates merchandise displays. Ensures all sales, fees and charges are rung up on the cash register. Responsible for maintaining the shop in a neat, clean and orderly condition.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience which provides a basic knowledge and understanding of Arts & Crafts which demonstrates the ability to perform satisfactorily the duties, including basic layout procedures and knowledge of art and artistic media. Knowledge of and skill in operating mat and glass cutters, vacuum mount press, air compressor, computer graphics program, and heat press is desirable. Experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes (1) direct handling of cash items, and (2) use of cash accountability control methods. Skill in dealing with the public. Prior experience in basic supply techniques is desirable.



Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
