Duties

Help
  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of research proposals and budgets for submission to funding opportunities.
  • Conduct basic and/or applied research projects using in silico, in vivo and/or in vitro models to achieve milestones and produce deliverables for customers.
  • Develop research plans and protocols to execute research projects.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports, presentations, and/or manuscripts for publication.
  • Coordinate daily laboratory activities, experiments, and/or schedules

  • This position requires a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • Position requires certification in the Controlled Substance Personnel Reliability Program (CS-PRP), IAW AR 190-13.
  • Position requires certification in the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP), IAW AR 50-6. Enrollment in the CPRP is a condition of employment, which requires random drug testing and medical evaluation IAW AR 50-6
  • This is a Defense Acquisition Workforce (AWF) position.. Must meet the DoDI 5000.66 requirements applicable to the Career Category/Functional Area and the Career Level Certification. Must be met within 36 months as of entrance on duty.
  • Foundational Career Level Certification or must be met within 3 years.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Drug Test Required.
  • Position requires the ability to wear a respirator and appropriate PPE, IAW AR 385-10 and DA PAM 385-61

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Education Requirement for Psychologist (0180):
Degree: Bachelor's Degree (or higher degree) in a major or equivalent in psychology.

Basic Education Requirement for Biologist (0401):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Basic Education Requirement for Toxicologist (0415):
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in toxicology; or an appropriate discipline of the biological, medical, or veterinary sciences that included at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, biochemistry, or physiology, and 12 semester hours in toxicology.

Basic Education Requirement for Physical Scientist (1301):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Basic Education Requirement for Chemist (1320):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in the physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Course work equivalent to a major in the physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the specialized experience requirements listed below:

One year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent grade pay band in the federal service which includes work that involves:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
(1) Conducting or assisting with basic or applied research projects using in vivo or in vitro models; (2) Prepares or assist in the preparation of research and proposals for submission to funding opportunities; AND (3) Develops research plans and protocols to execute research projects.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
