This position is located in the Business Operations of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Fleet Readiness Department
Employee may work in any one of the several food service locations operated by the Business Division at the Base. The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for the overall operations of his/her assigned areas, which may include but are not limited to food and beverage services associated with snack bars, club, pizzeria/fast food locations and catered events.

Duties

Help

The employee is responsible for staffing and scheduling of assigned personnel. Manages a diverse workforce of regular, flexible and seasonal employees. Interview applicants, train and supervise new workers and plan staff work schedules. Promulgates established customer service standards for employees in regards to patron service and insures those standards are consistently and properly met. Completes performance evaluations and takes corrective action as needed for any performance discrepancies.
The employee insures compliance with health, safety and sanitation regulations and periodically inspects assigned facilities to check for any irregularities or discrepancies.

Coordinates food and beverage needs with appropriate personnel for assigned locations and diverse programs. May plan special events requiring catering. Meets with clients, discusses requirements such as date, number of guests, occasion, etc. and explains services offered, menu, decorations, entertainment, etc. Arranges for required supplies, decorations, equipment and personnel.

Maintains an accurate inventory of all food, kitchen supplies and equipment.

Oversees security of the kitchen (s) and storerooms with regard to food supplies and equipment. Inspects food, food storage areas and kitchens.
Coordinates operations of the assigned areas with others in the division to maintain a productive working relationship within the division as well as with patrons, other departments and vendors.
Maintains confidentiality and discretion and protects the assets and information of the MWR within the scope of his/her duties.
Assists with the scheduling of DoD entertainment programs for the Food & Beverage division. Insures proper arrangements are made to ensure maximum benefit is obtained from entertainment provided
.Performs detailed clerical and financial duties such as payroll, handling large sums of money and taking inventory.
Assists with the budget process to manage food, non-food and equipment costs. Is accountable for the accuracy and thoroughness of records and reports for assigned areas.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must pass all applicable records and background check.
  • Must be able to work varied and irregular work schedules to include holidays, weekends and evenings. Subject to recall regularly.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a current driver’s license within 90 days of being placed in the position.
  • Male candidates born after December 31, 1959, and at least 18 years of age, are required to certify that they have registered with the Selective Service System (Attach proof of registration).

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess:

* Three years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of standardized mess/club or comparable food service and beverage practices and procedures.

* Ability to work under pressure, solve problems and deal effectively with the public

* Ability to hire, train and supervise a transitioning workforce

* Knowledge of methods and procedures for creating menus, pricing food and purchasing food products and equipment.

* Skill in budget preparation and financial reporting.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement.
