Duties

Help

As a Emergency Management Specialist, the primary purpose of this position is to execute the Emergency Management (EM), Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN), and Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) emergency response, logistics, and training programs. The position develops, manages, and executes the EM programs, ensuring all military, civilian and contract personnel are trained and equipped to support home station and worldwide contingency operations.

  • Assists in the development and coordination of plans and procedures for implementation
  • Collaborates with on and off-base units and agencies, on EM programs, policies, and procedures. and execution of the Installation Emergency Management Plan (IEMP 10-2).
  • Assists in conducting initial/recurring training for functional areas of EM.
  • Maintains Emergency Management response equipment, training resources, and supply inventories.
  • Serves as a CBRN Response team member.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the ND National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the ND National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposition is mandatory.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must haveone year of specialized experience at the GS-7 grade level or civilian equivalent which includes: 1) Skilled in preparing and briefing emergency management plans; 2) Knowledgeable in personnel activations and deployments; and 3) knowledge of emergency management and related directives, policies, regulations, procedures, and methods.

OR
Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in a field related to the position.

OR
2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a degree in a field related to the position
