Summary

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Dobbins Information, Ticket and Travel program on Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia.

The position is a flexible position, which means you are not guaranteed hours or benefits but could work anywhere between 0 and 40 hours per week. Position requires working irregular schedules, to include weekends, holidays, and all shifts.

Duties

Help

  • Performs and/or assists Recreation Assistant or Manager in the operation and maintenance of indoor and/or recreational facilities and equipment to assure safe conditions and cleanliness.
  • Assists the Recreation Assistant and Manager with assignments to the RV storage lot and FAM Camp.
  • Collects and safeguards fees, charges, and monies from equipment rental, RV storage lot, FAM Camp, and Creation Gifts & Awards Shop.
  • Assists Recreation Assistant or Manager with loan or recreation equipment to authorized patrons.
  • Assists in conducting inventories and monitoring records; takes inventory of authorized recreation supplies and equipment.
  • Takes reservations and payment; notifies participants of schedule changes; arranges for equipment or tools, charging them out to participants, and checking them for condition on their return; checks for proper identification of authorized patrons.
  • As necessary, demonstrates to participants basic techniques used and ensures safety rules are followed; checks the established safety system of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and areas, tools, and equipment; may perform minor repairs and adjustments.
  • Assists in set-up, implementation and tear down of base-wide MWR events as needed.
  • Sets up recreation areas for scheduled activities; records attendance; decorates community or neighborhood centers or recreation centers for special events, activities, or parties; posts announcements of scheduled activities and answers inquiries about item, place, transportation, or other matters related to activities scheduled; and helps with group activities which require more than one staff monitor, performing specifically assigned tasks.
  • Maintains site landscaping throughout ODR, RV storage lot, FAM Camp including but not limited to mowing lawns, trimming trees, hedges and shrubs, and preventing and eliminating weeds, and keeping grounds free from trash, litter and debris, and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Operates and maintains hand tools, such as loppers, saws and shovels.
  • Operates a NAF vehicle when conducting the duties of this position.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:

  • This is an entry level position.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Ideal candidates would possess the skill or ability to safeguard and handle cash and skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable; however, no experience is required.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
