Major Duties include:
The incumbent will perform work on a wide variety of piping and plumbing systems, including hot and cold water, hot water return, drain, waste and soil piping, sanitary and storm sewage systems, all steam distribution systems, including high (110 psi), medium (30-60 psi) and low (5-8 psi) pressure lines, high and medium pressure gravity, low pressure vacuum return piping, heating system convectors, medical gas systems including oxygen, medical air, vacuum and nitrous oxide piping, natural gas system piping, all tanks, fittings, valves, and pressure reducing valves for the above systems. Incumbent must be a journeyman level pipefitter skilled in commercial-industrial type work. He/she must be knowledgeable in removal and demolition of old work, alterations and additions to existing systems, and the installation of new systems. Additionally, this position performs basic mechanical work on HVAC ductwork systems including installation and modifications of flexible and hard metal ductwork, HVAC coils and VAV boxes. The incumbent must have knowledge of infection control guidelines, procedures and abatement technology solutions for minimizing the spread of particulates generated during construction activities within a Health Care Facility.


Work Schedule: Hours will be intermittent. Weekend and night work may be required.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: This position requires physical effort, continual standing, bending, stooping, lifting, sitting, and reaching. The work also involves frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying items up to 20 pounds. There is occasional lifting up to 40-50 pounds. The work is performed indoors and outdoors.
