Duties

Help

Receives, counts and balances cash and negotiable instruments. Immediately advises the Chief, Funds Control, and activity manager of cash shortage/overage received from activities. Maintains a change fund for activities cash requirements. Monitors the amount of cash on hand to ensure that sufficient cash is available to meet Services activities' needs. Balances the change fund daily. Makes purchase of cash and transport the cash from the facility to the central cashier location as needed to replenish the change fund. Prepares, maintains and balances central control logs to account for activity deposits and all change funds issued and turned in. Prepares cashier's reports and other forms as required. Summarizes deposits by cost centers for subsequent dollar transfers by the Accounts Control section. incumbent must be able to function independently by classifying and verifying a wide variety of accounting documents to ensure arithmetical correctness and completeness of information before applying appropriate accounting codes for entry into the accounting system. Serves as the focal point of contact with the banking facility and must deal on a regular basis with bank cashier and a variety of Services customers. Processes commercial credit card information validates and inputs data and provides backup to accounts control. May be required to process dishonored checks received from the banks. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in clerical duties in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody, or other processing of cash items. This should have included (I) direct handling of cash items and (2) use of cash accountability control methods. Must have responsible accounting experience, which has provided knowledge of the interrelationship of accounts and the effects of debit and credit transactions on the overall system of general accounting structure requiring a number of assets and liability control.

This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
